Collision - FAQ

What should I do if I have an accident?
The duties you need to perform after you have an accident are prescribed both by state law and by the terms of your contract.
  • Obviously, the first thing you should do is make sure everyone is all right and call an ambulance if one is needed.
  • Second, for most accidents in most states, the police should be notified.
  • Third, you should give the other driver(s) involved in the accident your name, address, telephone number, and the name of your insurance company and/or your insurance agent. You also need to get this same information from the other driver(s).
  • Fourth, at the first opportunity, you should contact either your insurance agent or your insurance company to notify them that you have been involved in an accident.
  • Finally, there are a number of conditions in the insurance contract that you must satisfy in order to receive compensation from your insurer. For example, you need to cooperate with your insurer during any investigation undertaken during the claims settlement process. Failure to complete any of these actions can, and sometimes does, result in non-payment by your insurance company for losses that otherwise would have been covered.

Does Flecha Automotive Fort Myers Collision Center Repair Service offer Free Estimate?
Yes! Flecha Automotive will provide a FREE written estimate with no obligation! They will inspect your vehicle, review their findings, and share their knowledge and advice with you.

Which is better for my vehicle — overall or spot painting?
Overall painting is often a great choice for restoring the surface of older vehicles. An older car has undergone significant depreciation, and a complete repainting can actually increase its value. Spot painting is the best way to protect the value of newer vehicles. We only paint where necessary, exactly matching that paint for a seamless repair.

Can you match the paint color exactly?
Yes. We take great pride in our ability to match factory finishes. Our expert technicians use the same paint and processes as the best dealers and body shops.

How soon will I get my car back?
We'll get you back on the road quickly, usually in no more than three or four days.

Why can't I get an estimate over the phone?
Each vehicle is different, and when you bring yours in we'll help you select the right service based on how long you plan to keep it, its age and condition, and your budget.

Can I change the vehicle's color?
Yes, but in most cases it's best to keep the current color. Painting the inside of the trunk lid, doors and hood is a time-consuming process and would add substantially to the cost.

How do I know if an auto body shop is a quality and professional facility?
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and I-CAR are training and certification associations for the collision repair industry. Look for these ASE and I-CAR logos which indicate that technicians at that facility are well trained and certified by these associations.

Important Thing to Remember

  1. Your car is the second largest investment you're likely to make. Preserve its value and your safety by having it repaired professionally.
  2. Never drive a car that could be unsafe because of damages.
  3. Some insurance companies may want you to visit their drive- in claims center before having your car repaired. You can do this, or you may leave your car at your collision repair shop and ask that the insurance company inspect the car there.
  4. You are not required by law to obtain more than one estimate or appraisal.
  5. You have the right to go to the repair shop of your choice. Your insurance company cannot require you to go to a particular shop.
  6. Differences in repair estimates are common. A lower estimate may not include all necessary work. If you're not sure why one estimate is different from another you've received, ask the shop manager.
  7. Choose a shop that has uni-body repair equipment and certified (by I-CAR or ASE, for example) Technicians.
  8. Ask if the shop will be using genuine manufacturer (OEM) replacement parts.
  9. Ask if the shop offers a repair warranty.
  10. Let the collision repair shop you choose help you negotiate your claim with the insurance company, this often leads to a better deal.
